Designed by James Gillespie Graham and completed in 1820, Cambusnethan House (as it was then known) was built for the Lockhart family. It is in the neo-Gothic style, constructed of golden sandstone, and is one of the last great houses of the Clyde Valley still standing - though only the outer shell remains following a fire in the 1980s. John Gibson Lockhart, Sir Walter’s Scott’s biographer and later his son-in-law, was born there. Cambusnethan Priory was later used as a hotel and restaurant, and as a venue for medieval-style banquets. The talk takes place on Thursday, January 12,at 7pm in the GLO Centre, church hall. All welcome.
