Not the same Enjoyed a night out Prefer Christmas Had a great New Year

Another year has begun and the festivities are all over.

Families and friends have celebrated Christmas and New Year and most of us would have marked the start of 2017 with our loved ones.

We took to the streets to ask residents if New Year has perhaps lost some of the magic it used to be renowned for.

Aimee Slaven admits she doesn’t celebrate New Year any more after a tiring festive period.

She said: “We’ve not celebrated it really the last few years.

“Everyone stays up for it, but it’s just not the same as it used to be. “You can go out any time of year now. “That’s what used to make New Year special.”

Aimee’s daughter, Alana Slaven added: “I like Christmas better than New Year and it’s a lot more fun.”

Husband and wife duo Mark and Lyndsay Rhind still enjoy the celebrations at New Year and enjoyed a night out this year.

Lyndsay said: “We went out to the Electric Bar in Motherwell to spend New Year there and we had a great time.”

Wishaw man Mark added: “Going out for Hogmanay is a lot better than staying in because there’s nothing on the television either.

“We went out and had a great night where they put on a buffet and everyone had a few drinks until two in the morning.”

And Mark concluded: “I still enjoy the New Year.”
