‘Clean up your act at our close’ resident tells firm

Fed-up Jim demands urgent action from cleaning company

- Michael Temlett

A fed- up Craigneuk resident has launched a scathing attack on a cleaning company who have failed to tidy up a close.

Jim Hawthorn, of Winning Quadrant, is furious with James Gibb Residential Factors for ‘abandoning’ the close which has turned into a mess.

The private firm are supposed to carry out cleaning every week but Jim believes it is well over a month since they last appeared.

Now the Craigneuk man wants action to be taken by the firm as they continue to charge residents for the service.

He fumed: “It’s five weeks since the close has been cleaned and it’s a disgrace.

“They’ve completely abandoned it yet every now and then they might turn up and mark the sheet to say it’s been cleaned but it certainly hasn’t.

“Why should we continue to pay for this service when it’s clearly not worth the money?

“All the neighbours are starting to get fed up too but the problem is every time I try and speak to them they go on as if there’s nothing wrong.

“Just by looking at the close you can tell it hasn’t been cleaned and it’s shocking.”

A James Gibb Residential Factors spokesman said: “Winning Quadrant has been managed by James Gibb since June 2016.

“When we originally took on the factoring of this development we were advised by the committee in situ that stairs had been cleaned on a fortnightly basis, however the cleaner had ceased to attend.

“When James Gibb took over, three cleaning companies were asked to tender for the development. “Two declined to tender. “The cleaning contractors we use are there every week, rotating between the six blocks to ensure that each block is cleaned on a fortnightly basis.

“Each stair is cleaned and disinfected, however they have not power washed ingrained stains out of the concrete.

“The cleaners sign attendance sheets on site to confirm the date that work has been carried out.

“As factors to the development we respond to all of our clients concerns and manage them as best we can.

“Of the 72 properties in the development, only one resident has raised concerns about the cleaning contractor with our office and we agreed an amendment to the specification to attend to his concerns.”
