£58k of cocaine seized after swoop on house
Drug dealers’ blitz
A police inspector this week issued a warning to drug dealers in the Wishaw area after cocaine worth £58,000 was seized from a Craigneuk house.
Inspector William Jeffrey outlined the police’s ongoing commitment to tackling known drug pushers following the discovery of the huge haul.
Police officers raided the house in Golfhill Road on December 28 following suspicion that drugs were being sold from the property.
A thorough search of the home was carried out with police discovering a huge haul of cocaine.
One thousand diazepam tablets, worth a total of £500, were found at the property
A 20-year-old man was arrested and was detained in custody pending a court appearance for alleged possession of Class A drugs with intent to supply.
Inspector Jeffrey told the Wishaw Press: “Our officers are following up information they have received regarding known drug dealers and we are taking robust action against these people.
“We have had a number of large seizures and our message is clear - we are committed to tackling this problem.
“If any member of the public suspects a person is concerned in the supply of drugs they should contact police immediately.”
Craigneuk councillor Gary O’Rorke is hopeful the raid will provide reassurance that everything is being done to tackle known dealers.
He added: “Everyone knows the hard work that has gone into making Craigneuk a good place to bring up their family over the past few years”
The raid comes weeks after the Wishaw Press revealed over £150,000 of illegal drugs have been taken off the streets of Wishaw and the surrounding area in the past 12 months including heroin, cocaine and cannabis.
