Dalziel St Andrew’s Parish Church All adult and youth organisati­ons have resumed at the church. The first Messy Church event of the year will take place on Sunday, at 3.30pm. This will focus on young families with lots of crafts, activities, fun and games and refreshmen­ts to start, concluding with a meal at 5pm. There is no charge for attendance. If you would like to come along, register via the church website (dalzielsta­ndrews.org.uk) to assist with planning and catering. The men’s club meet on Monday evening when May Nicholson will give a talk on the Preshal People. The members now have tickets available for their annual Scots night which, will take place on Monday, February 6, with entertainm­ent provided by Moira Kerr. The Guild, on Tuesday evening will hearing about the great work of the creative writers group, who meet at the church each week and who have now had two books published, with proceeds going to support St Andrew’s Hospice in Airdrie. Church member Jim Rae will talk to the sisterhood on Wednesday afternoon and provide an update on the great work he is involved in assisting the Water Aid charity to bring clean water to areas of Africa. All are welcome to come along. Sunday morning worship starts at 11am, and is available both at the sanctuary and live online or for catch-up later on YouTube. Lanarkshir­e Family History Society Graham Smith and Alistair Morrow from the Friends of Cambusneth­an Priory will give a presentati­on about the history of the building and the campaign to have it restored. The building which was designed by James Gillespie Graham and completed in 1820, Cambusneth­an House (as it was then known) was built for the Lockhart family. It is in the neo-Gothic style, constructe­d of golden sandstone, and is one of the last great houses of the Clyde Valley still standing - though only the outer shell remains following a fire in the 1980s. John Gibson Lockhart, Sir Walter’s Scott’s biographer and sonin- law, was born there. Cambusneth­an Priory was later used as a hotel and restaurant, and as a venue for medieval-style banquets. The talk takes place in the GLO Centre, Muir Street, Motherwell, on Thursday, January 12, at 7pm. All are welcome. South Wishaw Parish Church The church pantomime Cinderella takes place in South Wishaw Parish Church this Friday, January 13, at 7pm, doors open at 6.45pm. Saturday matinee is at 2.30pm, doors at 2.15pm and Saturday night performanc­e at 7pm, doors at 6.45pm. Saturday café will see Team A on duty this week between 10am and 1pm. Sunday worship is at 11am, and Kingdom Kids meet in the hall at 10.50am. There is a meeting of the congregati­on immediatel­y following this service. The Guild meets on Mondays at 7.30pm and the Fellowship are also holding their AGM on Monday at 7.30pm. A week of prayer for Christian unity takes place in the church from January 1620, at 12 noon. Refreshmen­ts will be available after each day’s service. Beltane Bowling Club The next monthly dance on Saturday, February 4, will feature entertainm­ent from the Johnny Weir Sound. All are welcome to come along. Wishaw Ex-servicemen’s Club Entertainm­ent for members and friends begins with cash bingo in the Tartan lounge on Friday and Sunday nights. There is a members’ night in the main hall on Saturday, January 14, with top class guest star Oddett Clark. Treasure chest now stands at £175 for seven keys and snowball is £300 if won on 60 numbers or less. Monday night sees line dancing in the main hall, where all are welcome. Future
