Blackhawks saddle up to raise cash

-

Clyde Valley Blackhawks braved it out for a 24-hour cycle to raise £3300 for an Alzheimer’s charity and their upcoming season.

The American Football team were recently reinstated into the British American Football Association (BAFA) NFC Division Two after a year out of league action.

The annual cycle – which is in its third year – is the main fundraiser for the club and will help provide them with resources for the upcoming year.

Ten per cent of all money raised will go towards an Alzheimer’s charity as it is close to the hearts of many Blackhawks players and staff.

The money raised will also help repair the pavilion at Wishaw Sports Centre where the club play. The event was part of Super Bowl weekend tradition for the club, with the cyclists taking a well-earned break following the 24-hour effort to watch Sunday’s game.

The club train at Ravenscraig Regional Sports Facility in Motherwell on Sundays from 6pm to 8pm on the indoor 4G pitch.

All are welcome, no previous experience is necessary, and you just need to wear suitable indoor clothing as Clyde Valley will provide equipment.
