- Lynn Love

A Wishaw beauty queen is getting ready to hand over the reins as her time as Miss Galaxy Scotland nears to an end.

Stunning Emma Bain,27,of Kenilworth Avenue, claimed the prestigious title in Lancashire last February.

Since she was crowned Emma has travelled to Orlando to take part in the Miss Galaxy International Pageant, raised thousands of pounds for charity, and inspired hundreds of other girls to take part in the competition.

She said: “Over the last 12 months my confidence has grown so much.

“I am a much happier person now and so proud of myself for what I have achieved.

“I have made so many friends and will treasure the memories forever.

“The opportunities I have been given over the last 12 months have been amazing.

“I am now modelling for Princess Angel Star and working with Supreme Pageants as a coach and judge.”

Former Coltness High pupil Emma was also crowned second runner-up at the International Galaxy final last August.

Competing against 16 other women in her category, Emma said it was a nervewracking experience.

The competition consisted of four different rounds interview, a fashion wear round allowing contestants to choose an outfit that represents their personality, bikini and evening gown contests.

“It was the most incredible week of my life,” said Emma.

“From my reaction, you would think I had won but to me I was already a winner. I was so proud to have placed so highly.”

Emma will hand over the crown to Miss Galaxy Scotland 2017 at the Park Hotel, Lancashire, on March 10.

She added: “I wi l l definitely miss being part of the Galaxy system but I know I have made life-long friends in all the other girls I have shared this experience with.

“I hope to continue my work without the title.

“I’d like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their continued love and support over the last 12 months.

“It means the world to me.”
