Debating team’s success at OLHS

this May the opportunit­y to participat­e in a Revision Away day on Saturday March 18.

Pupils will participat­e in tasks and workshops and as a reward for their hard work the day will end with a visit to Air Space, East Kilbride.

All food and transport is included in the £20 price as is the two hour Air Space session.

It is an excellent opportunit­y for pupils, who are urged to return their tear- off slips and payment ASAP. PTA

The PTA has organised a quiz night for Friday, February 17 with a 7 for 7.30pm in our school theatre BYOB - £ 5 admission, snacks supplied.

If you cannot make it along but you have any prizes to donate, we would be delighted to accept them on behalf of the PTA. Important S1 Notice

All S1 pupils who are interested in a place on the Bannockbur­n Trip running on the 20th of April should bring in their return slips with a parental signature as soon as possible, either to their Social Subjects teacher in class or directly to Mr Donnachie.

The draw for places on the trip will take place on Friday, February 10 and names of successful pupils will be posted outside the Social Subjects Base at lunchtime Healthcare conference. Careers Advice Evening

On Thursday, February 16 from 4.30-6.30pm at the Medical Education Training Centre, Kirklands Hospital, Bothwell, there is a chance for our future work force to find out more about some unusual and interestin­g opportunit­ies at a careers advice evening.

The careers on show are all linked to Allied Health Profession­als, including Art Therapist, Audiologis­t, Dance Psychother­a p i s t Drama therapist, Diagnostic Radiograph­er, Paramedic and Speech and Language Therapist. S1/2 Giant Heptathlon

Well done to all pupils who competed in the heptathlon at Ravenscrai­g yesterday.

Special mention to Keir McGarry who jumped the fur thest out of all competitor­s in the standing long jump with a jump of over six metres and the S2 boys relay team who came first in their group.

The S5/6 Travel and Tourism class had a guest speaker this week. Jamie Loudon is the airport manager for British Airways at Edinburgh Airport.

Jamie spoke passionate­ly about his job and his career so far.

The pupils enjoyed his stories from his time as an air steward and had the opportunit­y to ask questions about the travel industry. The class would like to thank Jamie for taking the time to talk to them and for all his advice he gave them for the future.
