That’ll be the day all over again... as a tribute

- Jonathan Geddes

Anyone looking for classic rock n’ roll will be able to find it at Rutherglen Town Hall later this year.

A trio of tribute shows have been announced for the second half of 2017. First up is one of the most influential rock n’ rollers of all time, with a tribute to Buddy Holly and the Cricketers coming to the Town Hall on Friday, September 22. The group, who will also play Hamilton Town House on May 12, have been entertaining crowds with their take on the music legend’s music for over 25 years. They have performed from Cardiff to California and Swindon to Sweden and promise a hit-packed evening that is guaranteed to have everyone singing along to the music and dancing in the aisles.

It stars some of the finest actor-musicians in the UK whose combined West End credits include Buddy, Lennon, Forbidden Planet and Jailhouse Rock. It was endorsed as Britain’s most popular Buddy Holly act when the group guested on BBC One’s Saturday night live programme, “The One and Only”, hosted by Graham Norton.

The show rarely pauses for breath and the hits just keep on coming, from That’ll Be The Day, Peggy Sue and Heartbeat to It Doesn’t Matter Anymore, Raining In My Heart and Oh Boy, plus many others.

Fans of the great Paul Rodgers can enjoy the Spirit of Free and Bad Company on October 14.

The line-up, made up predominantly from the touring band Hotel California Scotland, sympathetically and faithfully recreate the authentic sound and feel of the ultimate Paul Rodgers back catalogue.

Expect a set that includes classic tracks ranging from Feel Like Makin’ Love to Wishing Well and All Right Now, plus an acoustic section.

Also booked in for an autumn date are U2 360, who will play a rescheduled date at the Town Hall on November 17.

This band has extensive experience playing to audiences large or small, and claim to offer the most authentic U2 concert experience, having spent many years replicating the live sound produced by U2, with most of the equipment being exactly the same as U2 themselves use.

They promise to accurately recreate favourites like, Pride, Where the Streets Have No Name and Beautiful Day.
