Quality Meat Scotland

Nicola McCleery from Champions in Schools, and former student teacher in Clyde Valley High’s PE department, recently visited the Home Economics department to do a food demonstration sponsored by Quality Meat Scotland.

Home Economics pupils had to write a short report on their favourite food and the top 10 entries were chosen to attend the event.

A further 10 spaces were given to some of the school’s netball team. Primary Cookery Club A number of p6 and p7 pupils from Orchard Primary School have started their after school cookery club with their parents/guardians in the HE department with Miss Louise Barrett.

Last Wednesday was the first week and on the menu was macaroni cheese.

Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the experience and are looking ahead to the next cookery challenge. Youth Arts Festival Clyde Valley was well represented at this year’s North Lanarkshire Youth Arts Festival, where 18 pupils’work was displayed.

The work on show was a mixture of National 5 and Higher Art and Higher Photography.

The work was exhibited at Greenfaulds High School, with a closing ceremony last Wednesday evening.

They each received a certificate to mark their participation. Bake Sale Chantelle Hampson, Erin Forsyth and Rhys Williams of S1 together with Sarah Chance and Ellie McGlone of S3 organised a Bake Sale on Monday, March 6, in aid of the school’s up and coming London trip.

The school would like to thank all parents, staff and pupils who contributed to this as £70.20 was raised.
