McHugh is behind Robbo

-

Motherwell midfielder Carl McHugh has praised caretaker boss Stephen Robinson despite suffering a disappointing defeat to Aberdeen.

McHugh admits that whilst the players gave a better account of themselves they still were left gutted at leaving Pittodrie without a point.

Now the Irishman is backing Robinson to take charge of the team on a permanent basis after two weeks in charge, labelling him a great appointment.

He said:“The players were giving him absolutely everything and that’s all anyone can ask for.

“He (Stephen Robinson) would be a great appointment for us.

“He has us well organised and we had a plan coming here.

“We all knew our jobs and there was no stone left unturned in the preparation, which showed in the way we played.

“Hopefully we can work on keeping clean sheets now as that’s going to be vital if we are going to get more points.”

“We were gutted as the draw would have been a massive result for us but if we give that level of commitment and desire every week we’ll get our reward.

“I know the 7-2 defeat was a disaster and we have given a far better account of ourselves this time but we’ve still come away with nothing.

“It is very raw at the moment but when we reflect we’ll see we did a lot of good things.”
