Far-right demo over housing for refugees

A far- right group this week vowed to hold a demonstration in Wishaw to protest against Syrian refugees being offered homes with “front and back gardens”.

The Scottish Defence League confirmed to the Wishaw Press that they will plan to have a rally in the town within the next few weeks.

But the move has sparked fury among residents who say the neo-Nazi group are not welcome in Wishaw.

When asked if they were planning to come to Wishaw, a spokesman for the Scottish Defence League responded: “Yes, we are having a demonstration in Wishaw.”

Wishaw councillor Sam Love said: “Shocking. We don’t want fascists parading up and down in Wishaw.”
