This Sunday is Mother’s Day and children up and down the country will be thanking their mums for their hard work all-year round.

We caught up with four youngsters from Orchard Primary School in Overtown as they were in a card-making class producing their own personalised designs for their mums.

The hard-working children took time out to tell us what they will do to make Mother’s Day special.

Nine-year-old Dylan Clark is setting out with a simple, but effective, way to make his mum happy.

He said: “What I want to do on Mother’s Day is be nice to my mum because she is always nice to me all year and she’s the best.”

Orchard Primary pupil Emma Kerr gave the cutest answer when asked what she’ll do to make Mother’s Day special.

She said: “I’ll look after my mum by giving her a big hug and a big kiss because I love her.”

Nine-year-old Jessica Smith is planning a special surprise for her mum.

She said: “I want to give my mum breakfast and bed and, hopefully, get her some flowers to thank her.”

Rio McDonald designed his card and can’t wait to hand it over to his mum as a thank-you for everything she does.

The nine-year-old said: “I don’t know what we’re doing for Mother’s Day yet, but I can’t wait to give my mum her card and maybe some flowers.”
