Callous crook cons OAP out of cash

Police were this week hunting a callous crook who conned a Newmains pensioner out of cash.

About 5pm last Friday, a bogus workman attended at the home of a 79-year-old under the pretended roofing repairs were needed.

The elderly householder paid the conman who promptly left the home without carrying out any repairs.

The incident happened at Eastwood Drive, Newmains.

This crime comes on the back of a number of bogus caller offences since the start of 2017 with pensioners in Netherton, Cambusnethan and Newarthill all targeted.
