League’s out to stir trouble

-

The Scottish Defence League insisted they don’t care about the people in Wishaw who are against them demonstrating in the town.

And their spokesman vowed that no opposition to their rally would stop them coming to Wishaw in the next couple of months.

One resident said:“We don’t want the Scottish Defence League in Wishaw.”

When asked by the Wishaw Press that residents who have told us that they don’t welcome the Scottish Defence League in Wishaw, the spokesman replied:“What about the people who say we are welcome in Wishaw and we mean local residents of Wishaw who have asked us to come and highlight the issue and our Wishaw division?

“Are they not welcome in their home town?

“There are always two sides to any political issue and some people are pro refugee and some are against so there will always be people who say we are not welcome to demo in their area.”

And he added:“To be completely honest with you we don’t care about the people who say we are not welcome, opposition to our presence has never stopped us before and it won’t stop us now.”

And he added that they received people messaged men when the Scottish Defence League shared our article on their Facebook page.

The spokesman added: “People said they had been waiting on the housing list for over 10 years to get suitable housing and others who are in sheltered housing and families in overcrowded flats. There are several ex-forces who are homeless in Lanarkshire.

“People are angry that refugees are getting houses with front and back gardens rather than flats. Why not give them flats? It is obviously going to anger local people. To say locals are not angry at that is pure denial.

“We are sure we will get plenty of support on the day.”

The Scottish Defence League spokesman said they have still to set a date and have it agreed by police.
