-

A happy couple David and Margaret Hall celebrated their golden wedding anniversary - after initially meeting at a dance 52 years ago.

David and Margaret, of Netherton, toasted their landmark anniversary at an afternoon tea with family and friends.

The couple first met at a dance in Carluke Town Hall in 1952.

They tied the knot two years later in Wishaw Chalmers Church on March 11, 1967, at a ceremony which was officiated by the Rev Griffiths.

Best man was David’s brother Richard and bridesmaid was Jean Jennings and flower girl was Nanette Phillips. Ushers were Alex Phillips and Robert Clark.

David, a retired Ravenscraig steelworker and Margaret, a retired shop assistant, have two children David, 48, and Gavin, 44, and one granddaughter, Emma, who is eight years of age.

The happy pair say the secret to a long and happy marriage is to say “yes, dear” to everything.
