Debt help & advice
WHERE TO GET Go to HELP www.aib. gov.uk/ debt-arrangement- find an adviser scheme to and ask about where all the interest, DAS charges on fees and the debt will be and waived if frozen you fully complete your debt payment and programme creditors receive more 90% or of the money owed to them repayments, facing spiralling costs and intimidating demand letters.
The Scottish Government is encouraging people to consider DAS as a first option before thinking about entering an insolvency solution as these have much more serious consequences.
And we are backing a campaign to reassure people there is a way to pay back what they owe and keep their head above the water.
We will signpost readers to trained money advisers who will be able to offer advice, stop creditors demands, and find a way to repay debts over a reasonable time. If you have a disposable income and want to repay what you owe the Scottish Government’s Debt Arrangement Scheme (DAS) could help. Last year there were more than 2,239 new debt payment programmes set up under DAS – with more than 1500 completed. The total repaid to creditors since 2010 is around £150 million.
