Glencairn gun down Shotts

Glencairn .............. 4 Shotts Bon Accord 2 Shotts Bon Accord suffered their first defeat away to Rutherglen Glencairn in 19 years on Saturday.

The Bonny were always going to find it tough against the Glens who extended their unbeaten run to eight matches. Kieran McGuinness’men sit third-bottom of the Super League First, three points above the relegation zone.

The Glens were very quickly onto the front foot and they went close to opening the scoring in the second minute.

Tony Fraser’s curling free-kick caught out the Shotts defence but striker Del McNab diverted the ball over the crossbar.

Shotts threatened after seven minutes as a corner from the left found former Glens player Mark Duffy who diverted the ball into the path of Andy Cross but his effort was saved by JC Hutchison.

The deadlock was brokenafte­r 34 minutes when Jay McKay hit the first of his hat-trick for the Glens.

He added a penalty before half-time before Stephen Maguire responded after the break.

However, another penalty handed McKay his hat-trick before Shotts hit back through Danny Burns.

But despite throwing everything at the hosts, they bagged a fourth thanks to Jamie Hamilton before Ryan Docherty was sent off for the Glens.
