S2/ 3 meet Michael Grant

American author Michael Grant recently visited Glasgow as part of a tour to promote his new book series.

He was promoting his Front Lines books series which are about an alternative Second World War in which the U.S have allowed women to actively serve in the armed forces.

The St Aidan’s second and third year book group were able to attend his talk at the Mitchell Library in Glasgow and were taken by the St Aidan’s librarian Miss McGough.

Schools from Glasgow and East Renfrewshire were present. St Aidan’s were the only school present from North Lanarkshire. This broad range of schools meant that the St Aidan’s pupils were able to mix with other young people and discuss books and literature with them.

The author from San Francisco held a Q and A after his talk where he answered questions from those present.

He also held a signing sessions where he signed pupils’ books and personally spoke to them.

St Aidan’s Librarian Miss McGough said that Mr Grant “gave a very passionate and funny talk about history.” She said the author was very happy to see the large turnout of young people to his talk.

Finally she said: “The S2/S3 book group really enjoyed the trip to the Mitchell Library and enjoyed hearing Michael Grant speak about his love of books, writing and history.” Sarah Quinn MSYP
