Lasley is out but he’s not down...

Keith still looking to make an impact

- Michael Temlett

Keith Lasley insists he still has a lot to give despite being dropped by new boss Stephen Robinson.

Lasley hasn’t featured since being subbed at half time whilst losing 1-0 to Kilmarnock three weeks ago.

Whilst the Motherwell midfielder admits he would love to be playing a bigger role, he wants what is best for the team.

He said:“It’s not nice being taken off at any time.

“But you have to remember we went on to win the game. The club comes first.

“It was hard to take and I’m not going to tell you I enjoyed that experience. Of course I didn’t.

“But the manager explained his decisions clearly and honestly. That’s how he’s going to be with the players — no matter if you’ve played 500 games or five games like a young boy coming into the team.

“Decisions will be made for what’s best for the team.

“That’s how it was explained to us. Ultimately, it turned out to be a victory.

“My own immediate thoughts are that I still want to play and contribute to the team.

“We’ve got a new manager and my first focus is trying to help the side get as high up the league as it can between now and the end of the season.

“I hope I’ve still got a part to play on the park.

“It is about me trying to persuade the manager I can still do a job on the pitch.

“What’s more important to me is that this club prospers and gets itself up this division.” Saturday April 1, Ibrox Stadium, kick-off 3pm
