Rev Iain goes out to applause
A well- known church minister has called it a day after 22 years.
Cambusnethan Old and Morningside Parish Church minister Iain Murdoch has retired and his last sermon was on Easter Sunday.
Speaking to the Wishaw Press this week, Rev. Murdoch described his time at the church as a ‘privilege’ and will now look forward to spending retirement with his wife Elizabeth.
The 66- year- old admits he’s experienced it all during his tenure at the Coronation Street church – but isn’t expecting a quiet retirement.
Iain said: “It’s been a privilege and a joy to share so many memories with the congregation and their support has been fantastic.
“There have been some great moments and some difficult times but the important thing is that I have been able to share my awareness of God’s grace.
“My wife is battling health problems right now so I felt it was the right time to go and support her – just as she has supported me throughout my time with the church.
“I’ll also be able to spend more time with my children and our three grandchildren who will keep me busy!
“I’ve enjoyed being able to meet many people and make friends through the church.
“It has also been humbling the amount of prayers and support we have had from the community for my wife and it is greatly appreciated.
“I have enjoyed my time and I wish everyone the best and thank them for their support.”
Rev Murdoch’s last sermon took place on Easter Sunday and his pastoral services will be fulfilled by Iain White in the interim.
