Beef up bbq by raising hospice cash
St Andrew’s Hospice are asking supporters to cook up a storm this summer as part of a major new fundraising initiative.
The charity are part of the Scotland’s Hospices Together partnership – which has launched “the big Scotch beef sizzle”, asking supporters to hold a barbecue during June to raise funds for the good causes.
St Andrew’s head of fundraising John Brady, who is also chair of Scotland’s Hospices Together, said: “We’re delighted to be launching our first-ever national fundraising campaign, with huge thanks to Scotch Beef PGI for supporting this initiative.
“We’d like to encourage as many people as possible to host a barbecue in June to support their local hospice.
“These provide end-of-life care and support to patients and their families, and are reliant on donations and voluntary support to continue providing that much-needed care.”
The fundraiser was launched by BBC weather presenter Judith Ralston, who said:“I’d encourage everyone to get involved in the Big Scotch Beef Sizzle.
“It is a fantastic way to help your local hospice and also the community.
“One of the joys of our country is the variety, and unpredictability, of our weather which means hosting a BBQ is always an adventure!
”The secret is to be prepared – pack an umbrella along with the sun cream and there will be nothing to stop the fun.”
