Following the Easter bonnet parade, the girls had fun outside hunting for eggs. Back inside, they decorated their own eggs and played a variety of Easter games. At the end of the evening the following prizes were presented: Best decorated Easter bonnets: Explorers winner - Brooke Scratchard, runner-up, Orla O’Kane; juniors winner - Alice Walker, runner-up Katie Gonnello; Easter egg Hunt winner - Damita Mkelemi; Best decorated eggs: Explorers winner - Aara Sweeney, runner-up Taylor Healy; Juniors winner - Kayleigh Wood, runner-up, Lucy McLelland; pin the tail on the bunny: Explorers - Kelsi Wilson, Juniors Nia O’Kane. Community consultati­on meeting There is an important meeting tomorrow (Thursday, April 27) in Springhill Community Centre, 23 Knollcroft Road from 7pm to 9.30pm. Shotts residents are invited to come along to discuss the pros and cons of fracking and related matters. There will also be an evaluation of the potential benefits and impacts on the local community. All views are welcome. This meeting offers the unique opportunit­y to learn about fracking in a Scottish context and through open discussion, reach a position which is in the best interest of the Shotts community, as well as assisting others across the central belt. This consultati­on is fully supported by Shotts community council and will be independen­tly facilitate­d on their behalf by the Community Chartering Network. 3rd Shotts Scout Group The new hall at 100 Benhar Road is now available for any organisati­on in the community to use and requests to do so should be made to Mrs Mary Lees (Group Scout leader) on 01501 821658. Beavers (ages five to eight years) meet on Tuesdays from 7pm to 8.15pm. Contact Margaret Galloway (Keeo) on 01501 823715. Cubs (ages eight to 10) meet on Wednesdays from 7pm to 8pm. Shotts and District Rotary Club The guest speaker at the meeting on Wednesday, April 19 was John Beever, from Coatbridge, Airdrie and Monklands Rotary Club. John gave a presentati­on about trams of Glasgow and showed two films. Journey of Tram 1017 was about a tram currently on show in Summerlee Museum of Scottish Industrial Life, Coatbridge. The second, The Old Guys Try the Edinburgh Tour was about a typical day out on an Edinburgh tour bus, visiting the historical sites around the city. Thanks to John for his presentati­on. The club will be holding their annual sportsmen’s dinner in St Patrick’s Parish Hall on Friday, May 19. A few tickets are still available. The guest speakers will be Scott Glyn and Tom Paterson.
