Camera Club Hunter Kennedy proudly announced the club’s success at the annual exhibition of the Glasgow District Photographic Union, at the meeting of the Carluke Camera Club on Friday. This is currently on show at the People’s Palace, Glasgow until May 31, Individual winners included Libby Smith, Mary Gibson, Gaille Gray and Hunter Kennedy. Their combined success enabled Carluke to win the coveted overall top club panel category by a very convincing margin. The club’s meeting also featured a members’ audio visual night. Each entry, which lasted between five and 10 minutes, featured a series of still images which were carefully merged into a continuing theme, accompanied by appropriate music, to tell their developing story. Their next meeting will be held in St Andrew’s Church Hall on Friday of this week and will be the club’s annual digital image competition, which will be judged by John McVie, AFIAP, DPAGB, who is a leading member of Dumfries Camera Club and also vice-president of the Scottish Photographic Federation. As usual, the meeting will begin on Friday, at 7.30pm, and new members and visitors are most welcome. For further details of the club’s activities, please visit their website at www. carluke-cc.org. Week-day service The service held in St John’s Church on Thursday of last week was conducted by Sandra Peat, who told the congregation a lovely Easter story of why the Easter season reminds her of special memories of Easter Sundays gone by. Everyone is invited to come along to this 30-minute service held each Thursday morning, at 10.30am, followed by the kettle’s on event, which this week will be providing tea, coffee and homemade scones and biscuits. All welcome. Soup and sweet lunch The soup and sweet luncheon held in the United Reform Church on Saturday of last week saw the regulars enjoying the special menu of the day, which was provided by the ladies of the church.
