Dear Editor,

-

I write to you regarding the quite misleading, indeed unfounded comments directed against Councillor Sam Love by council leader Jim Logue.

It is outrageous that Sam has been the victim of a political vendetta for no other reason than the self preservation of some North Lanarkshire Labour councillors such as current council leader Jim Logue, in yet another blatant attempt to save their own skin at the forthcoming council elections.

It may be worth to note that anyone who knows Sam Love as I have done for 40 years, will know that he is one of the hardest working, fair and honest councillors who have had the privilege to serve the people of Wishaw and North Lanarkshire.

It is heinous that the current Labour leadership, due to their panic of facing electoral defeat at next week’s council election, have yet again sunk to the lowest depths of slanderous personal attacks on anyone who threatens to expose them for their incompetent handling of the council’s affairs recently, with the latest victim this week being Councillor Sam Love.

The refugee comments Councillor Sam Love made were recorded at the time, by a community council and two reporters, there were no racist comments made whatsoever.

These independent people have confirmed and agreed with the comments that Sam made – therefore is Cllr Logue, in his attack on Cllr Love, now calling these people racists too?

I was a founder member of the Wishaw to Calais Aid Group who set up a successful charity aid to help the many destitute women and children who were at that time living in squalid conditions in Calais.

I myself not only helped in the collection of clothes and toys for these unfortunate people, but also drove these items in a truck down to the south of England for distribution to the people in need in the camps. Every North
