BLACKHAWKS START WITH A BANG
Clyde Valley Blackhawks made a triumphant return to league action with a storming win over Aberdeen Roughnecks.
Earlier this year, the Wishaw Press revealed the Blackhawks would re-enter the British American Football Association (BAFA) NFC Division Two after a year out of league action.
They started off on fine form with a 34-13 victory against hotly-tipped Roughnecks. The Roughnecks scored first with a field goal in the first quarter to take the early lead.
Blackhawks defence then dug deep and stopped the Roughnecks adding to their score until late in the first half.
The Blackhawks offence started to click in the second quarter, with Quarterback Gary Orr connecting twice with John Neill, with Neill scoring both extra points.
Blackhawks took a slim 14-10 lead into the third quarter before Orr connected with Robbie McCrory to add another six.
In the fourth quarter the Orr and Neill combination linked once more to bring the score to 27.
Clyde Valley’s defence continued to dominate and only allowed Aberdeen one more field goal.
Their domination was complete when Graeme MacMillan picked off a wayward pass and dodged his way to the end zone.
John Neill rounded out the scoring when he slotted over the extra point.
