Wishaw out of race for promotion

-

Wishaw Juniors .... 4 Forth Wanderers .. 2 Despite picking up two wins in three days, Wishaw Juniors fell out of the race for promotion.

The Beltane Park side now sit 11 points behind the top two, with only three games remaining. However, Chris McGroarty’s men can still have a big say in who will get promoted – as was shown on Saturday.

Wishaw travelled to second place Larkhall Thistle and beat them 3-2 to put a spanner in their title ambitions.

It was all about the Kindlan brothers from Wishaw as Dan bagged a double, with Dean finishing off the scoring.

Despite Thistle piling on the pressure in the second half, a robust defensive performance kept them at bay and handed Wishaw all three points.

On Monday night, strugglers Forth Wanderers travelled to Beltane Park and took the lead twice as the hosts looked under pressure.

But James Coffey, Ryan Smillie, Dan McNulty and debutant Ryan Farnell all helped Wishaw towards another three points.

Monday also saw the announcement that the rematch of the fiery Wishaw and St Roch’s clash – which was abandoned last year – will take place on Saturday, May 6 at Beltane.
