In a statement yesterday (Tuesday), councillor Logue said: “Last Friday, Labour in North Lanarkshire achieved a result many thought impossible.
“We have a strong, dynamic team ready to hit the ground running and we are delighted to have the largest group of Labour councillors in Scotland to continue our good work over the next five years.
“Friday’s result shows that the public want elected members to come together to confront the issues we face in our communities.
“With this in mind, we will work constructively with like-minded councillors to meet the challenges we face in North Lanarkshire.
“During this election, we made a number of commitments which I fully intend to deliver on as part of a new administration.
“We want to continue delivering the largest council house building programme in Scotland, deliver a jobs guarantee for every young person not in further education or work, invest in new school facilities for every community, provide record investment for older people and continue our programme of investment in town centres.
“Our vision for a new administration will offer a fresh approach to local politics and be a forward-thinking, modernising and progressive force, building on our record of success and striving to provide outstanding public services.
“There is a clear message from Friday’s result and it is only by working together that we will move North Lanarkshire forward.”
