Car wash soaked up cash to help pay for capital trip

Pupils attending the Science department’s trip to London recently took over DMC Car Wash and Valeting Centre in Netherton, offering car washes to raise money.

All pupils had great fun using the car- washing equipment and although soaked and exhausted by the experience, they managed to raise £322.61.

Many thanks to Kevin Brannan and Paul McMahon for allowing the pupils the opportunit­y to run their business for a few hours and also for their very generous donation.

Thanks also to staff, pupils and parents who helped make the evening a success. Fairtrade Award

The school has successful­ly renewed its Fairtrade FairAchiev­er status.

The FairAchiev­er award is the highest award that a school can gain from Fairtrade and is renewed every three years.

Mrs Caroline Ashmore, principal teacher of Business and Enterprise would like to thank all staff and pupils for their continued support and for incorporat­ing Fairtrade into the curriculum. Drumming Success

Brothers Lachlan and Fergus Kyle recently took part in the Kingdom Thistle Solo Drumming Competitio­n in Fife.

Lachlan won the under-16 category and placed second in the under 18 section.

Fergus came second to his brother in the under-16 category and placed fourth at under-18 level.

The staff and pupils would like to congratula­te the boys for adding to their already illustriou­s list of titles. Dance Success

Siblings Raina and Corey Owens attended the UDO British Street Dance Championsh­ips in Bristol recently with their dance crew Morse Code.

The crew placed first and claimed the title of under-18 intermedia­te British champions. Corey also competed solo in the under-16 advanced category and placed second!

Pupils and staff would like to congratula­te both Raina and Corey for their continued success in the field of street dance.

Further success for Corey came at the North Lanarkshir­e Schools Dance Championsh­ips, where he won Gold in the Level 2 Solo Street category for the second year running.

S1 pupils Lauren Doherty, Charlie Beswick, Tamara Achomere, Ellie Tolan, Carly McCabe, Natasha Carroll, Amy Barlow, Ebony Wilson, Niamh Cowie and Kayla Durkin, competed for the first time in the Level 1 Group other category and won silver.

Mrs Renee McNaughton, PT Physical Education accompanie­d the pupils on the day would like to congratula­te all of the dancers and thank the wonderful dance leaders for coaching the S1 group all year. Dechox Challenge

The Clyde Valley and Orchard Office staff bravely gave up chocolate for the month of March to raise funds for the British Heart Foundation.

Their final total for the March Dechox was a staggering £624.23.

The ladies wish to thank all who donated and encouraged them throughout the challenge and were delighted to finally tuck in to their Easter chocolate afterwards.
