Dan Kindlan scored a double whilst Dean also netted in a rematch of the controversial tie which was abandoned with Wishaw winning 3- 1 back in November.

The victory meant the Beltane Park side put a spanner in the works for titlechasing St Roch’s.

Things started off poorly for the hosts as they fell behind to a Martin Shiels strike on 12 minutes.

But five minutes before half time, Chris McGroarty’s men found themselves on level terms as KB Grant played a wonderful through ball to Dan Kindlan who smashed the ball past John Paul Stark.

Wishaw managed to sneak in front just before half time as Ryan Smillie played a cross in and once again, Kindlan was first to react and poked the ball home.

After the restart, Wishaw looked to create more breathing space but Grant, Smillie and Michael Collinder all failed to find the back of the net with their chances.

St Roch’s levelled proceedings through Stephen McDonald with 10 minutes to go despite Wishaw protests that he was well offside after he latched on to Ryan Jack’s header and slotted home.

But the hosts did not let the decision get under their skin and they retook the lead through a Dean Kindlan header with the Wishaw brothers in fine form on Saturday.

A last minute free kick let Wishaw extend their lead after Grant played in Joseph McCafferty who drilled the ball in to the back of the net.

Wishaw were left to celebrate as St Roch’s title challenge is left in tatters.

A police presence was at the game after a request by the league but Wishaw’s club secretary confirmed there were no incidents at Beltane Park.

Wishaw will now play their penultimate game of the season as they take on Thorniewood United at Beltane Park this Saturday at 2pm.
