The Wishaw Press revealed in last week’s edition that Labour and the SNP could have a “working arrangement” to form the next administration in North Lanarkshire.

Labour leader Jim Logue refused to rule out doing a deal with either the SNP or Conservatives to cling on to power.

Parties will meet tomorrow (Thursday) to come to a decision as to who will take charge in North Lanarkshire.

We took to the streets of Wishaw to ask readers which party they would like to see in the hot seat.

Wishaw woman Joanne Kelly said: “I’m not sure about North Lanarkshire but the whole country needs to get its act together. We need

Labour are a defunct party now. I’m delighted so many Conservatives were elected

a strong leader nationally. Someone who can guide the country in the right direction and help sort the mess out.”

Donna Pettifer said: “The SNP won the most seats so I think it’s only right that they take charge. We need change in North Lanarkshire. I don’t think things were working the way Labour was running it.”

Wishaw shopper George King said: “Labour are defunct party now. I’m delighted to hear that so many Conservative members were elected. There was no way near enough before. I used to vote SNP but not anymore.”

Sarah Herdman, of Heathfield, said: “This is the first year I didn’t vote as I didn’t know who to choose and I wasn’t comfortable with the new voting system.”
