Green tokens funding boost

-

Three community groups are celebrating after being awarded charitable grants totalling over £900 from the Asda store in Newmains.

Newmains Boys Club, Wishaw and District Brigade Band, and 10th Wishaw Guides have all received funds from the supermarket’s Green Token Given scheme.

All these groups have received their funding thanks to the help of Asda Newmains’ dedicated community champion Mary Gilfillan.

Mary said: “We are very honoured to be able to continually support local charity groups from across Newmains. “

Newmains Boys Club is an under-12s football club which enables young boys to socialise and play the sport they love with other likeminded children.

Wishaw and District Brigade Band offers young people, both boys and girls, from North Lanarkshire free tuition in Brass, Woodwind and Percussion instruments.

They perform shows in schools, church and other events.

Running for over 55 years, the 10th Wishaw Guides is a fun group for young girls to participate in a long line of interesting activities, including annual camps and outings.

Susan Gibson, from the 10th Wishaw Guides Company, added: “The £ 200 donation is greatly appreciated and will be a huge help to us, it is also a bonus to know that we are supported by members of the wider local community too.”
