KIDS’ FUN-TASTIC TIME

- Michael Temlett

The Boys’ Brigade cares for over 50,000 people across Scotland – and the lucky youngsters in Cambusnethan help make up that number.

The 2nd Cambusnethan Company Boys’ Brigade are celebrating another successful session and this Friday they will hold their annual presentation.

Awards and prizes will be handed out in Cambusnethan North Church at 7pm, where the youngsters will be joined by Flight Lieutenant Bailey the Officer Commanding 498 (Wishaw) Squadron, The Air Training Corps as chief guest and inspecting officer.

Youngsters aged between five and 18 years have enjoyed an action-packed time with various events such as cooking, arts and crafts and different sports on offer.

One highlight was the Anchor Boys fun night which featured seven different companies from across North Lanarkshire.

Ewan Lannigan, Captain of the 2nd Cambusnethan Company of the Boys’ Brigade, said: “This year we have enrolled 16 Anchor Boys, nine Junior Section boys, 22 company/seniors. The calendar year of 2017 is the centenary of the junior section and we have been and will continue to take part in 100 challenges set by the Brigade nationally.

“Some of the completed challenges included making contact with BB companies overseas and taking a picture of members with everyone’s ages adding up to 100. We will be able to present the Queens Badge, the top award in the Brigade.
