Punjabi flavours to Big Apple trip
GURDWARA VISIT A group of fourth year Taylor High students visited the Guru Granth Sahib Gurdwara in Glasgow.
They learned about the history of Sikhism and the main beliefs of the religion.
They also had the opportunity to sample traditional Punjabi cuisine and rounded off their day with a visit to the Winter Gardens at the People’s Palace on Glasgow Green.
Thanks to Mr Martin McMahon (Principal Teacher of Religious Education) and Mrs Joanne McGuigan for taking the students on this trip which was a huge success. USA VISIT JUNE 2017 The Social Subjects department is making the final preparations for the forthcoming excursion to New York and Washington DC, scheduled to take place from June 19 to 25.
This trip, aimed at fourth year students, is based on the work of the Social Subjects and Science courses with various activities designed to support the school’s young people in their studies.
All students participating in the trip are reminded to pack appropriate clothing for all possible weather conditions and must be at the school for 5.15am on Monday, June 19. PROGRAMME OF STUDY FOR NATIONAL 4 STUDENTS Students not sitting SQA exams during the next few weeks will embark on a programme of study, which involves all subject departments working within the school, in addition to a number of trips and visits out of school.
The programme is designed to offer tasters of a wide range of courses for the young people concerned.
The visits planned by subject departments will also help widen the horizons of all involved.
A big thank you goes to Mrs Lorna Brand, DYW Champion, who devised the programme. FIFTH AND SIXTH YEAR INDUCTION PROGRAMME Following the examination period the current fourth year cohort will enjoy the opportunity to participate in the annual fifth year induction programme.
This programme helps prepare students for their fifth year studies and supports them in seeking a place in college, university or place of work on leaving school.
It includes visits to various universities and further education establishments.
