Newarthill and Carfin Parish Church fayre will be held this Saturday and doors open at 11am. Donations of home baking, fancy goods, toys, bric-a-brac and bottles would be welcomed. Bedding plants will also be on sale on the day; tea tickets cost £2 for adult, £1 for children and are available to buy now. The church will be open on Thursday and Friday between 7pm and 9pm for any donations. Anyone still to return a raffle sheet or tea ticket money can you do so by the end of this week. The prize for the raffle will be two £50 vouchers for Da Claudio’s restaurant in Motherwell. Coffee morning will run as normal in Newarthill church this week between 10am and noon. All are welcome to come along and share in the fellowship. All proceeds on May 25 will be donated to Christian Aid. Christian Aid week As the church no longer has a door-to-door collection, envelopes were inserted into the order of service on Sunday. Anyone who wishes to make a donation, should return their filled envelopes by this Sunday with extra envelopes still available. The church are also taking part in a sponsored walk round Strathclyd­e Park on Sunday. Fred Carroll is “going for a walk” and if you are not able to walk yourself, Fred will walk on your behalf if you want to sponsor him. If you do want to sponsor Fred, please speak to him directly. The Sunday school are still doing their “copper” collection for Christian Aid. St Andrew’s Hospice Hamilton Presbytery are championin­g the cause of the hospice and Newarthill church have a selection of items available to view and purchase. These can be found in the church hall each week following Sunday worship, as well as at the weekly coffee mornings.
