Lennon makes the Wight history

Royal Albert ......... 4 Newmains Utd ...... 3 History was made in the match between Newmains United and Royal Albert as their youngest ever scorer was recorded.

Lennon Wight netted for United in their defeat to Albert at the young age of just over 15.

Newmains United tweeted following the game:“Lennon Wight became the clubs youngest scorer in their history at 15 years and 141 days.

“Looking to see if any other stattos know the age of the youngest ever juniors scorer?”

It was a silver lining after another disappoint­ing day for the Newmains United squad who have suffered 17 defeats in their 21 games this season.

They also welcomed back Jay Burns after a long term injury who netted but boss Kevin Muirhead has admitted he is already planning for next season.

He said:“I’m already looking to build on our foundation­s and as much as I’d like it to be better, it was always a long-term plan here.“

“If we could get more people from Newmains coming out to see us play in the future it would be great for the club because there’s been a lot of hard work going on since I came in.”

Newmains will play their final game of the season this Saturday as they take on East Kilbride Thistle.
