A Thorn in Wishaw’s side
Wishaw Juniors .... 2 Thorniewood Utd .. 3 Wishaw Juniors’last home game of the season finished in disappointment as they were beaten by Thorniewood United.
The Beltane Park side twice came from behind to level proceedings but they lost out to sixth-placed United as they netted in the dying seconds.
Thorniewood started the brighter of the two sides and on 35 minutes were rewarded as Johnny Logan broke the deadlock as he stabbed the ball home from six yards.
Wishaw reacted to going a goal behind and restored parity on 41 minutes thanks to a Ryan Smillie penalty.
But seven minutes into the second half, Chris McGroarty’s men found themselves in trouble once again as Damon Welsh unleashed a ferocious free kick from 25 yards out.
The game could have been out of sight if it wasn’t for Ryan Lawrie as the Wishaw goalkeeper saved a penalty just before the hour mark.
Michael Collinder then levelled the game for the second time, making no mistake as he slotted past Derek Barnes in the Thorniewood goal. But it was a heartbreaking end for Wishaw as the visitors grabbed a winner through a Keigan Parker free kick.
Wishaw will play their final league game of the season tonight (Wednesday) as they take on Forth Wanderers. For updates follow @WishawJuniorsFC on Twitter.
