Quad rider trial date

-

A woman has denied failing to provide a sample of breath at Wishaw General Hospital after a police officer believed she had been driving a quad bike with alcohol or drugs in her system.

Nicola Rankin denies failing to co-operate with police at the hospital on June 4 last year and failing to provide a sample of breath when asked to do so by PC David Rushworth.

The 38-year-old was absent from the dock at Hamilton Sheriff Court last week but her solicitor confirmed she pleaded not guilty to the alleged offence at Wishaw General as well as four other charges.

It is also alleged that on June 4, Rankin drove a quad bike dangerously along Birrens Road in Motherwell.

The quad bike was allegedly driven at excessive speed on a public road where pedestrians were present.

Rankin, of Birrens Road, Motherwell, is also accused of failing to keep the vehicle under proper control whereby she lost control of it and the quad tipped over.

She allegedly drove the quad bike without the appropriate driving licence or insurance.

Due to an essential Crown witness being on holiday on the date of Rankin’s trial, June 26, Sheriff Allan McKay adjourned the case until August 10.

A new trial date was also fixed for September 9.
