Call Inspector Taggart as pupils become CS sleuths

- There’s been a murder!

The entire first year cohort took part in the CSI programme in the last few weeks. After a body was discovered in the Science department of Taylor High School, the first year forensic scientists were called upon to investigate the ‘murder’! The students photographed the crime scene, collected evidence, analysed the evidence, eliminated suspects and identified the murderer. It is believed that Chico Marx is currently in police custody as a result of the evidence provided by the pupils – well done!

The school thanks Mrs Colette Brown (principal teacher of Science) for this activity. Taylor tycoon

This month the school welcomed the return of an initiative called Taylor Tycoon to Taylor’s first year ICT course unit on Graphics and Marketing. Pupils are each given initial capital of £1 and are asked to apply their entrepreneurial spark to make as much money as they can from a business idea they develop either as sole traders or in partnership with other pupils. Business ideas range from confectionery, cake, sweets, Indian takeaway, stationery to nail painting and customised jewellery. This daily bazaar has created a real buzz and it the place to be at lunch time at Taylor. Good luck to each of the First Year teams, there is still some time left to make a lot of money! Thanks to Mr David Lewis, principal teacher of BCT, and to all members of his department for their co-ordination of the activity. Fifth year induction programme

An Induction Programme has been organised for the school’s current fourth year students moving into fifth year. This will take place on Friday, June 2. This two day programme will involve workshops related to dealing with transitions, leadership and Health and Wellbeing. These workshops will include physical activity provided by Mr Ryan Lynch, a focus on mental wellbeing from Jackie Hair in Psychological services, ‘Heartstart’ first aid training provided by acting principal teacher of pupil support Ms Marie Valente, and home school partnership officer Ian MacFarlane providing an information session on budgeting. There will also be a presentation and workshop provided by Mr Kevin Thompson from the British Army on employability. The school thanks all staff for providing valuable input into the two day’s proceedings, and to stage head Mrs Jan McCrone and Miss Joanne McGuigan for the overall co-ordination of this event. They look forward to sharing the student’s experiences with you. U13s Scottish Plate semi-final
