South Wishaw Parish A mid-week service is held in the church throughout the year every Wednesday at 12pm (unless otherwise advertised). This will be followed by a lunch club at around 12.30pm (from September to June) before the Wednesday Welcome starts at 1.30pm to 3.30pm. Wednesday Welcome is a social activity which runs throughout the year. There is something for everyone with bingo, seated keep-fit, entertaine­rs, crafts and card making, and much more. Today (Wednesday, May 24) will see a big-screen movie with top class vocalist Jim Gilmour entertaini­ng on Wednesday, May 31. Admission costs £2 per week (including tea and goodies), so why not join in for fun and friendship, where you will be made most welcome. These activities are open to all. The bus for the Sharing Circle’s outing to Rothesay will leave the church on Thursday at 9.30am. Saturday cafeteria on Saturday at 10am to 1pm will see Team D on duty this week and this will be the final cafeteria until it resumes again in October. The morning worship service on Sunday at 11am will be conducted by Reverend Terry Moran. Now! Church is a contempora­ry expression of Christiani­ty with high-energy worship and music - a powerful message which can be applied to life and an opportunit­y to build lasting friendship­s. Their next gathering will be held in the church hall on Sunday, June 11 at 2pm to 3.30pm. Why not come early and join the group for lunch at 1pm. Holey Soles rambling club’s next walk on May 28 will be from Dysart to Buckhaven. The coach will leave from outside St Bernadette’s Church hall, Logan’s Road, Motherwell at 9.30am. For inquiries, contact Margaret Campbell on 01698 269277. St Margaret’s Parish Church The church fayre will take place at the church in Muirhouse on Saturday, May 27 at 11am. Everyone is welcome to come along and enjoy tea or coffee and home baking and browse around the various stalls. Communion will be celebrated in the church on Sunday, June 4 at 10am. Houldswort­h Bowling Club The function room will be closed for a private function this Saturday, May 27, but the lounge will be open to members as normal. Wishaw Ex-servicemen’s Club Entertainm­ent for members and friends begins with cash bingo in the Tartan lounge on Friday and Sunday nights. This Saturday, May 27 will see a private function in the main hall, however, members and friends are welcome to use the Tartan lounge for a game of bingo. One lucky member won the snowball last week and so it will begin again this week at £50 if won on 45 numbers. Future attraction­s will include a members and friends night in the main hall on June 3, with Ricky Wilde and Sami Lee providing the entertainm­ent for the evening; entrance will cost £2 for members, and £3 for non-members. There will be members and friends night on July 22, with two top class acts Kirk James and Elaine Grey. An Eagles tribute band will be coming to the club on August 26; tickets cost £10 and can also be paid at the door on the night. The main hall and upstairs lounge is available to book for most functions including weddings, christenin­gs, birthdays, anniversar­ies, funerals, and most other occasions.
