Dalziel St Andrew’s Parish Church Derek Hughes will return to his series of talks on the Book of Daniel at morning worship in the church on Sunday morning. The third chapter in the book is this week’s focus. The service is available live online at (dalzielsta­ndrews.org.uk) and also for catch-up on You Tube and includes signing and electronic note taking to assist the deaf and hard of hearing. The kirk session meets on Thursday evenings at 7.30pm with the Congregati­onal Board meeting at the same time the following Thursday. “What a Wonderful-Full World” is the title of an entertaini­ng and thought-provoking evening of music, film, drama and conversati­on about the wonders of the cosmos, life and the big questions. The event will be held at the church on Friday, June 16 at 7.30pm with tickets, priced £7, available by visiting www. graspingth­enettle.org/wonder-full. A world prayer focus will be held in the GLO Centre, Motherwell on Friday evening with all invited to attend. The next messy church event, which will hopefully include a barbecue if weather permits, will be held on Sunday, June 25 at 3.30pm. All young families wishing to attend are asked to register on the church website as soon as possible. This year’s American brunch will be held after morning worship on Sunday, July 2. The annual praise gathering will this year be held in the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall on Saturday and Sunday, June 10 and 11. Counsellin­g is a new service available at the church and allows individual­s and couples to speak to a qualified and experience­d counsellor in confidence. South Wishaw Parish Church A mid-week service is held in the church every Wednesday at 12pm throughout the year (unless advertised otherwise). This is followed by a lunch club from around 12.30pm from September to June, before the Wednesday Welcome starts at 1.30pm to 3.30pm. These activities are open to all. Wednesday Welcome is a social activity which runs throughout the year. There is something to please everyone with big-screen movies, bingo, seated keep-fit, entertaine­rs, crafts and card making and much more. This week will see the usual activities with a karaoke sing-a-long. Admission costs £2 per week (including tea and goodies!) So why not join in for some fun and friendship, where you will be made to feel most welcome. A summer fete will be held this Saturday, June 10, from 2pm to 4pm. Come along and enjoy an afternoon of stalls, including a home bakery, flowers, plants, bottle stall, bric-a-brac, toys, fancy goods, toiletries, soft goods, perfumes, soft drinks, beat the goalie, lucky dips, hot dogs, tin can alley, sponge the minister and South Wishaw Church’s afternoon tea. All welcome; entrance to grounds is 50p or free with a tea ticket, priced £3. Now! Beltane Bowling Club next monthly dance will be held in the club on Saturday, July 1, with music for the evening provided by the Johnny Weir Sound and a sing song in hall on Sunday at 8.30pm.
