Week-day service The week-day service held in St John’s Church on Thursday of last week was conducted by Mr Joe Bradley and those attending again enjoyed their regular visit to the kettle’s on event for tea, coffee and cake afterwards. Everyone is invited to come along to this regular week-day service, which is held in the church each week at 10.30am. Gala day Four young Law Primary School pupils will be counting down the days and hours to what will be a memorable day for the town this Saturday, June 10. Eve Grierson will be crowned Carluke’s Gala Queen 2017 and by her side will be her champion Jamie Paterson, with flower girl Cara McCafferty and crown bearer Joshua Munn. The youngsters will join the six Carluke Primary School’s maids at this year gala day event, who along with their own escorts have been gearing up for the town’s annual celebratio­n. The event will starts from the usual starting place at Sandy Road at 11am and wind round the town. The committee look forward to welcoming everyone along to take part in this year’s festivitie­s. Betty Kerr’s coffee day It seems only a few months ago that local woman Betty Kerr held another of her successful open days. Over the past years Betty’s annual fundraisin­g events have raised an amazing total of £46,000 for the Glasgow Beatson Hospital, with the open day event held each year in memory of her late husband. Betty thought that last year might have been her last event, but prizes and knitted items donated by her many kind-hearted friends persuaded her to go ahead again this year. With her daughter’s and friends’ help she has confirmed that Saturday, July 15 will again be the date to note in the town’s diary. Tickets for the event cost £3 and these are now available to purchase from around the town. For more informatio­n about this year’s event, contact Betty. What a Wonderful world An evening full of music, film and drama, featuring tenor soloist Alastair Morris, will be held in the Dalziel St Andrew’s Church, Motherwell on Friday, June 16. Tickets cost £7 including refreshmen­ts, and these now are available by visiting their website www.graspingth­enettle.org/wonder-full. Concert for Primrose The Carluke Primrose Orchestral Flutes will hold their 37th annual concert in Kirkton Church on Saturday, June 24 at 7.30pm. Tickets, priced £7, are now available and are going fast. Healing service A healing service will be held in St John’s Church next Sunday evening at 7pm, to which a warm welcome is extended to all to Police Scotland is seeking the assistance of the public in trying to trace a 58-year-old woman missing from Carluke.

Willemina Airlie left her home in Pegasus Avenue, Carluke on Monday, May 15, and has not returned.

She is described as white, around 5ft 8, with grey and collar-length hair.

Following enquiries, officers have located an image of Willemina on CCTV from the SYHA Hostel in Park Terrace, Glasgow on Friday, May 19, where she is seen leaving the building around 8.50am.

Willemina has gone missing before and she is known to visit the New Lanark and Oban areas and stay in hostels and bed and breakfast hotels.

However, she normally returns home after a few days and concern is growing as she has not been in contact with any family or friends.

Officers are currently in the process of investigat­ing a possible sighting of Willemina in an Aldi store in Kirton Street, Carluke, however that has yet to be confirmed.

If anyone has seen Willemina or has any informatio­n or knowledge as to her whereabout­s, please contact police.

Anyone with informatio­n is asked to contact officers at Lanark Police Station via 101.
