Duo in court on

Two people have appeared in court accused of four offences in two Motherwell streets in a matter of hours.

Patrick McMahon and Ann Marie Hughes stood in the dock at Hamilton Sheriff Court last week to answer the charges against them which allegedly took place in Scotia Street and Connelly Place on June 20.

McMahon denies behaving in an aggressive manner in Scotia Street by entering a premises uninvited and refusing to leave when requested to do so and demanding to speak to the occupant.

The 32-year-old, of Connelly Place, also pleaded not guilty to having an offensive weapon with him in Scotia Street, namely a metal pipe.

McMahon is also accused of behaving in an aggressive manner in Connelly Place by striking a car with a power drill and demanding the occupants leave the vehicle. He pleaded not guilty to the charge.

For her part, 26-year-old Hughes, of George Street, Newarthill, pleaded not guilty to behaving in an aggressive manner in Connelly Place and while in possession of a knife demand that the occupants exit a vehicle.

The pair were granted bail and will stand trial on September 21.
