Grand result at big charity footie game

-

A charity football match helped raise more than £1000 as players looked to kick out cancer.

A Lanarkshire Cancer Care Trust side took on North Motherwell AFC and raised £1050 for the Wishaw charity.

Lanarkshire Cancer Care Trust provide a volunteer driver service across North Lanarkshire helping patients attend appointments or treatment on time.

With LCCT needing to raise £250,000 every year to run the service a lot of fundraising must be organised.

The match finished with a 7-2 victory for North Motherwell AFC.

But the charity came out the real winner.

A spokesperson from LCCT said:“We have to raise £250,000 but 85 per cent of that must be raised through donations and events.

“We’re lucky to have patients and their families arrange events to help us fundraise because it keeps us going.”
