KIDS OUT OF CONTROL AND SPREADING FEAR

-

“It means that some people won’t open their blinds and they are living in darkness.

“They have threatened to get police but they will just say to them that if you do we will tell the police that you’re taking pictures and that you are a paedophile.

“These people don’t know what to do and they just want to contact someone. “It is ridiculous. “These children are out of control. These people are talking of moving out of the area.”

Constable Susan Rooney, who is based at Dykehead Primary School, said community officers are working in schools to reduce antisocial behaviour.

“We will speak to residents to see how we can best approach this,” she said this week.

A council spokesman said: “A resident complained to our antisocial response service in April of youths aged between 10/12 years causing a nuisance in her area. Our antisocial response service investigated and together with Police Scotland visited the parents of the youngsters concerned. There have been no further complaints since.”

The recent antisocial behaviour comes after the Wishaw Press reported in January 2016 how fedup families wanted to move out of their area after being terrorised by a gang of out-of-control children.

Neighbours said they were their wits’ end and urged the council and police to tackle antisocial behaviour at Vennacher Street in the Dykehead area of Shotts.

Residents claimed that children from five to 16 years were running amok to all hours of the night.

Some of the complaints of antisocial behaviour included incidents such as:

An eight year-old girl being A man has been arrested in Harthill after being caught driving whilst under the influence of alcohol. attacked in the street and snowballs being forced into her mouth

Eggs and snowballs thrown at windows Parked cars being vandalised Graffiti, including the word “paedo”, daubed on a resident’s home

Residents subjected to verbal abuse in the street

Fireworks being pushed through a letterbox
