Motors 01698 282222 Looks a winner

-

This week I have been sampling the secondtop model the 2.0-litre TDI 150PS in SE L trim with a seven-speed DSG automatic gearbox, allwheel-drive and seven seats. Only the Limited edition currently sits above it.

The test car cost £30,465 and in my opinion represents great value for money.

Prices for the range start from just £21,545 and even the entry level model offers LED daytime running lights, alloy wheels, air conditioning, digital radio, a touchscreen and Smartlink phone connectivity as standard.

The test car’s list of equipment is too extensive to mention it all but highlights include 19-inch alloys, roof rails, Alcantara upholstery, sat nav with touchscreen, DAB, Smartlink, USB and 2 xSD card reader, as well as dual zone air con, electric heated and folding door mirrors, cruise control, full LED headlights and fog lights, headlight washers, heated seats, leather multi-function steering wheel, parking sensors and sunset glass and much more.

You also get a stunning amount of space, plenty cabin storage areas, an electrically operated tailgate and nice touches like brolleys stored in the front doors.

The Kodiaq is very comfortable for five adults and the third row seats are best kept for children.

The boot is very large with the back row folded flat and when you collapse the second row as well, a staggering 2,065 litres of space becomes available - larger than any other in its class.

As well as featuring all the premium equipment, the cabin is nicely finished and the controls and dials are easy to use and read. The seats are very comfortable and it is easy to find a nice driving position.

The Kodiaq is muscular and handsome to look at and looked great in its Moon White metallic paint which was a £555 option. It has the look of a Tiguan about it but on a bigger scale. The 150PS 2-0-litre diesel gave the test car enough grunt and although it could be a bit noisy when pushed it was usually very smooth and willing. A sprint to 62mph took 10.3 seconds and the top speed is 123mph.

For a big car it is quite economical with a claimed combined figure of 56.5mpg thanks in some part to its start/ stop technology. As usual don’t expect to achieve that in real conditions. Emissions sit at 131g/km.

The Kodiaq is another great effort from Skoda, practical, stylish, economical and value for money and with 24 cars in the range there is sure to be one to suit you.
