Hall lets hike at NCT Centre
Some groups using the NCT Centre in Newmains will be forced to pay up to 20 per cent more for hall lets from this month.
The move comes after consultation with groups that use the centre which began in April.
Local youth groups will be exempt from the price hike.
In April, members of Newmains Community Council were told a hefty price increase would be needed during a report about the NCT Centre.
They heard how the NCT Centre aims to generate an extra £70,000 to break even.
The £70,000 figure is the gap between operating costs and revenue generated through income at the centre.
Meanwhile Newmains Community Trust have recruited two new board members.
Catherine Carson and Caroline Pitcatheley have joined the board, each bringing their own expertise to the table.
Catherine works locally and is experienced in events and business management , while Caroline is a teacher and is qualified in education and management.
NCT cha i rwoman Christine McNa l l y said: “The board is now complete with a well balanced level of suitably experienced and skilled personnel with a good knowledge of the locality who are able to steer Newmains Community Trust in a direction which will serve the community well.”
John Harper has also returned to his role as NCT vice-chairman with NCT also recruiting a centre manager , administrator and book keeper.
I n f o rmat i o n a n d application forms can be taken from the NCT Centre website.
The Trust’s next open meeting will coincide with the AGM and is on Wednesday, September 6.
