Calderhead High
The guest speaker was Dr Fiona Menzies, a former pupil, who lectures at the University of the West of Scotland.
Her teaching interests include host- pathogen interactions, immunology, physiology, and reproductive biology. Dr Menzies gave an inspirational speech and made everyone laugh as she recalled her first day at Calderhead High School.
The talented pupils provided the excellent entertainment starting with a spirited rendition of ‘Scotland the Brave’ by CHS Pipes & Drums. The vocal group sang “Try Everything”; Steven McLaren and Shana Murray performed ‘Ashokan Farewell’, accompanied by Mrs Prucnal; the CHS Samba Band treated everyone to ‘Aquarela do Brasil’; Paige Bryce sang a beautiful rendition of ‘A Thousand Years’; and ‘ These Foolish Things’ was performed by talented flautist Shana Murray. A special mention must go to pupils, Jordan Muir and Andrew Hayburn, who provided excellent technical support.
