Police inquiry after crash as he rescued pet

A council spokesman aid: “Some vehicles turning the corner at the entrance into the cemetery are crossing the edge of the grass on the right beside a lair.

“New kerbing is to be installed in the next two weeks to prevent this.” Police are appealing for any witnesses or informatio­n following a serious road crash near Harthill last Thursday afternoon.

At around 2.05pm on June 22, a 26-year-old man was trying to retrieve his dog from the B7066 Edinburgh Road when he was struck by a red Ford Transit van.

Emergency services attended and the man was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital with a serious leg injury. The dog was not injured. The driver of the van was uninjured but has been left badly shaken by what has happened.

The road was closed for several hours as crash scene investigat­ors conducted enquiries and examined the area.

Officers are appealing for anyone who was on the B7066 road around the time of the incident to contact them.

In particular police wish to speak to anyone who has any dash cam footage of the incident.
