Attack and cop assault

-

A teenager has appeared in court charged with striking a man in the head with a bottle.

Eighteen-year-old Dean Bryson pleaded not guilty to attacking Martyn Clelland with the bottle to his severe injury and permanent disfigurement on April 15 in Airth Court, Motherwell.

At Hamilton Sheriff Court on Friday, Bryson, who appeared from custody, also denied assaulting PC Marc Boyd on the same night by striking him on the body with his head, spitting on him, repeatedly attempting to kick him and urinating on him.

The teenager is also accused of behaving in a threatening manner by shouting, swearing, making threats of violence and repeatedly striking his head against a police vehicle as well as striking PC Stephen Bryson on the body with his head and repeatedly attempting to kick him. Bryson denied both charges.

The final two charges Bryson, whose address was given as Polmont Prison, pleaded not guilty to was struggling with PC David Telfer and attempting to urinate on him and resisting arrest by allegedly twisting his body and violently lashing out with his arms and legs.

The accused is alleged to have committed the offences while he was released on bail. Bryson was remanded in custody ahead of his next court date on July 21.

He is due to stand trial at Hamilton Sheriff Court on three days later.
